RICHMOND

The City of Richmond, including Steveston Village, is famous for high levels of yellow lichen that spreads along the ridges and outside caps initially, before further spreading on the roof surface. Moss levels tend to be not nearly as heavy, however the black algae does double duty in the Richmond area, often making roofs so dark that many homeowners do not even realize how light their roof's shingles and tiles originally were!
